King Mog & Punisher

After tremendous procrastination, I recently finished two more cars for Gaslands.

The Punisher

First up is the svelte and subtle Punisher.

The gimmick here is: What’s his weapon? Oh, I’m sorry, a common misunderstanding—he is the weapon. Though admittedly he also has an assault rifle and shotgun in easy reach alongside his NOS.

Looking back I think I was going to give this car as a gift to Brett, because I very carefully opened the packaging to be resealed, but he’s dead to me. Also it was obnoxiously difficult stripping the paint off this car in particular. Eventually multiple long stays in acetone, several CitriStrip rubs, and a lot of mechanical scrubbing were required.

King Mog

On the opposite end of the weapons spectrum is King Mog and its faithful crew.

Fully kitted out and WYSIWYG, King Mog’s a hefty 50pt team all on its own. My favorite bit is that the rear gunner is wearing a hoody, cargo shorts, and untied Timberlands, ’cause that’s how we roll in W̶a̶s̶t̶e̶w̶o̶r̶l̶d̶ Gaslands. Definitely Gaslands.

RACE

To celebrate completing these models after years of looking at them on my shelves, I did also recently play one too-many-player game of Gaslands. Ultimately King Mog held the day all by its lonesome. My unbeatable strategy was to drive really moderately fast in a slow-ass heavy truck, get shot to pieces by everybody chasing it, walk away and wander around the store for 10 minutes until I got a chance to respawn, then come back and drive super middling fast to the finish line. Granted, I did get some help when Jake swooped in at the very end to blow me up again but the chaotic explosion just pushed me over the finish line, wheels coming off and parts flying everywhere as I rolled gracefully to a stop against the pylon and collapsed in a huff of smoke like I just escaped Toontown.
