AGO Campaign Week 1
First round of the new campaign!
Rules
750 pts for Kingbreakers, 1000 for Chaos, according to campaign rules since changed... Kingbreakers deploy 2nd but take 1st turn, also per campaign rules for being outnumbered.
3x4 table, reasonable amount of terrain. Annihilation, deployment on long edges up to 6" up.
Moving up or down a level on terrain pieces counted as difficult, but was otherwise clear. I.e., movement across the top of each piece was normal. Terrain provided 5+ cover.

Battle
Turn 1
Tac 1 all but obliterated by Defiler Battle Cannon. Captain Angholan killed after risking his own life to defend Tac 1's Melta gunner.
Turn 2
Sternguard pick off several Khorne Berzerkers from the distance.
Dreadnought converts Chaos Land Raider into blazing hot slag, the explosion ripping through the nearby Chaos hordes. Remnants of Tac 1 and Dreadnought Valiant assault the stunned Chaos Terminators escaping the fireball. Chaos Lord sends the last few souls of Tac 1 into the warp. Dreadnought returns the favor on Terminators.
Turn 3
Aspiring Champions Powerfist Dreadnought, crushing the central sarcophagi but not before Captain Valiant takes a few more blighted souls down with him.
Turn 4
Sternguard and Tac 2 annihilate a squad of Berzerkers. Remaining Berzerker squad charges and obliterate Tac 2. Defiler misses completely.
Turn 5
Defiler whittles down Sternguard. Berzerkers charge and eliminate remaining Sternguard sergeant.
Results
Kingbreakers annihilated.
Notes
Felt comfortable w/ removing Angholan's Artificier Armor. It sounds badass, but it hardly ever matters. He hasn't taken an individual shot in a long time as he always hangs out with Tac 1, and when the whole group has been hit by ordnance it's been AP 2 anyway. Similarly, in close combat he's usually up against power weapons anyway.
Dreadnought performed well, though it had to face down too many Powerfists in the end. Range is ok on multi-melta, but damn---when it closed with a Land Raider it fried that thing...
Took too many vehicle hunting models into this fight, between the Lascannon on Tac 2, Melta Bombs on the cap, Powerfist on Tac 1, Melta in Tac 1, and Multi-Melta on the Dreadnought, we were ready to tear down some vehicles if we could close with them.
Campaign outnumbered army rules need to be adjusted, the 25% points hit penalty was way too severe and imbalancing.
Defiler was well positioned here. We allowed it an obscured cover save behind some barrels, though we shouldn't have as not enough of it was actually hidden. In any event, the barrels deflected every lascannon shot upon its hideous exterior.
Tac 2's flamer should be dropped for a plasma gun unless it is going to Combat Squad and that half go on the offensive. At least that way it will get one more solid shot at 24".
